Court TV makes The Smoking Gun website into a television series,
turning to marionettes, bobblehead dolls, action figures and hand
puppets to act out true-crime stories. ShackedUpSound scores 18 of
the show’s 36 segments. The music needs range wildly, from
punk rock to Muzak to hip-hop. Segments also call for parodies of
classic television music archetypes, from 60’s cop-shows to 70’s
sit-coms to modern 24-hour news programs. The project works on a
very tight schedule with scoring, filming, editing and voiceover
work all happening concurrently.
